Getting the Beta ready for release


Okay, time to write my first ItchIO devlog. I'm currently in the process of getting the public beta for Marble Assault Classic ready for... well the public :)

I spend the past few days playtesting and bugfixing, as well as adding the last couple features such as various options in the options menu and some gameplay elements. I'm also polishing the levels a little, though most of the polish will happen after the Beta release & when I've had some feedback.

One of these is the "continue game" menu. I originally had it so that players would just continue where they last left off, but I realized that players might want to polish their highscores and retry a boss battle. So here's the new menu:

Currently only highscores are listed but I'm planning to add "last score" too so players can compare their performance to their best one. Light the fire a little if you will.

Levels that haven't been unlocked yet are greyed out. You can also see the currently (mostly) finished levels that will be available for the Beta. The last 4 levels will be released over time as I work my way towards the final version of the game

Here's a little preview of Steam City 2:

It's not much yet, but I'm having some fun with boosters as the player travels through the various steam pipes in Steam City, making their way to the surface at high velocity!

That's it for this blog post for now. I didn't really plan on writing one because I didn't even know ItchIO had these, haha. If I did I'd definitely would've started sooner!
Since I'm fairly close to the release date (sometime next week, if all goes according to plan) I'll prolly write the next one when the Beta is out. See you then~

Wow sorry about the delay, got rather sick due to a sudden burst of insomnia and had a busy week on top of that... Also the fullscreen/windowed switching was very broken haha
